On the evening of June 10, 2015, at approximately 6:40 PM, Tpr. Mills assisted a career Trooper with the apprehension of three suspects who were seen travelling in a stolen vehicle. Trooper Mills scaled a fence to backup the Trooper and fell as he descended the other side of the fence. He sustained an injury to his right wrist but, despite the injury, pressed forward to make contact and assist in the apprehension. Mills was transported to a medical facility for treatment. Thankfully, the injury was minor.
Mills, recognizing that the other Trooper was outnumbered, three to one, and confronting potentially dangerous felons, he exerted a maximum effort to support his fellow Trooper. Mills overcame a physical barrier, and risked his own safety and security in the process. Even after falling from the top of the fence and landing on his right hand, Trooper Mills moved quickly to provide the only backup available. There's no doubt that Trooper Mills’ arrival, at the scene, changed the odds and undoubtedly increased officer safety and deterred any possible aggravated resistance from the three suspects.
